We’ve Got Your Back… & Your Eyes

Eye diseases are probably the last thing on your mind from day to day.

That’s okay.

It’s not a topic the average person thinks about on the daily.

Unfortunately, whether you think about them or not, they are a threat, and you might be vulnerable.

We focus on eye diseases so you don’t have to.

All you have to do is schedule your annual eye exam.

Our team will take care of the rest by inspecting your ocular structures and tracking any changes.

By thinking about eye diseases proactively, we can help make sure you never have to think about them at all.

Don’t Judge a Disease by Its Symptoms

You can usually tell you’re sick by your symptoms, right?

Unlike lots of illnesses, eye diseases often develop without causing any noticeable symptoms.

By the time people notice subtle changes to their vision, their eyes have often sustained permanent damage.

The best and only way to protect your eyes against disease is by scheduling eye exams every year.

The earlier we detect disease, the earlier we can treat it.

The earlier we treat it, the less likely it is to cause vision loss.

Are You at Risk?

No one is totally immune to the possibility of eye diseases, and every disease has different risk factors.

However, some factors put you at a higher risk for multiple eye conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration.

Possible risk factors for multiple eye diseases include:

  • Age over 60
  • Smoking
  • Alcohol abuse
  • Obesity
  • Diabetes
  • Long-term sun exposure
  • High blood pressure
  • Previous eye injuries
  • Previous eye surgeries

Common Eye Conditions

We’ve got the technology and know-how to diagnose and treat a huge spectrum of eye conditions.

Of course, some conditions are more common than others.

These are 3 of the conditions we see most often, and we check for at every eye exam.

Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that cause slow, cumulative damage to the optic nerve.

The optic nerve transmits information from your eyes to your brain.

Without it, you can’t see properly.

There is no cure for glaucoma, but the condition can be managed.

With early diagnosis, we can prevent significant vision loss.

As you get older, the proteins in your eye’s natural lens start to restructure.

Over time, the lens becomes progressively cloudy and, eventually, totally opaque.

This is called a cataract.

Cataracts are a natural part of ageing.

In the early stages, we can help you manage cataracts by increasing your prescription.

Eventually, cataracts can be surgically corrected.

The macula is responsible for your ability to read text, recognize faces, and notice fine details.

When the macula becomes damaged, you start losing portions of your central vision.

The damage is usually associated with fatty deposits called drusen or weakened blood vessels in the retina, leading to age-related macular degeneration.
